This is a tough question to answer. Watching and reading Jurassic Park definitely has its influence on my answer. My logic from what happened in those stories and my survival instinct tells me that I do not want to bring back a predator and deal with that. It would also be dangerous to bring back a dinosaur that is so big it would not even notice when it stepped on me. Of course, it’s a common misconception that all dinosaurs were huge. The ones used in the books and movies were used for dramatic effect mostly. For those reasons, I would want to bring back a small herbivore.
But for scientific reasons, I really want to know how accurate Hollywood was in the final movies, especially the variety of that final movie. I want to know if real dinosaurs were actually colorful. I want to know if anything we have guessed is actually accurate. Tyrannosaurus Rex has always fascinated me. Velociraptors, are they really intelligent family groups? What about that very first dinosaur imprint we found with the feathers, Archaeopteryx? What is that top bone really for on the Pachycephalosaurus? What did the frill really do on Dilophosaurus? How much do we REALLY know and how much have we guessed wrong? I don’t know that I could pick just one. They’re all so old that they are all fascinating.
We cannot truly fathom the amount of time that has passed between the end of the dinosaurs and our time. I can barely fathom the time that has passed since my parents were born and my time, so much has changed since then. I can’t even picture what the world will look like when my kids are my age. So much has changed since I was their age.
