I would like to learn to speak another language fluently.

I took French in high school. I can still read it pretty well. When I went to France in 2016 with my now husband, I could speak better than I thought, but without the practice, I honestly cannot understand when someone speaks it to me.

I spent most of my life around Spanish. When my husband speaks to his family or other people, I can understand at least the general idea of the conversation, if not every word. And like French, I can read it pretty well. But I can definitely not speak well.

My family is Italian and they taught me almost nothing. I can read it ok because it is Latin based. But there are no speaking or listening skills there.

Hopefully I can change this with my kids and they will be multilingual.

Languages fascinate me. If you are ever speaking another language in front of me and I am staring at you intently, I am probably trying to understand anything, and I apologize if I come off rude. I just love other languages so much. If it is not a Latin based language, I am probably trying to place it if I do not already know which language it is.
