I’ve always wondered why celebrities take negative comments so personally. It comes with the territory. You know what you’re getting into, even if you have never experienced it before. You know to ignore the negative comments and not let it get to you. You know that there are people out there that are downright rude when they don’t have to say anything to your face. There are people that don’t do any research and do not read additional comments and are sarcastic trolls and do not know how to keep scrolling when they have nothing productive to add to a conversation.
But when it’s you yourself, it is much harder to just ignore it and not take it personally, especially when it has never happened before. And it is hard to rise above those people and not start anything when it is useless to and you know better than to take the bait. I made an FYI comment on a post on Facebook about information I remember learning in a baby book I read when I had my first daughter in 2019. I had not checked to see if it had been updated, it was just information that was still rattling around in my brain. The comment blew up–at least in my terms, considering the most comments I usually get on anything is like 5 and usually from friends and family.
Some people gave me updated information and I thanked them for the learning opportunity. I did not update my original comment because I feel it is important for people out there to see my information and then the information I learned and how I responded to it, as I believe it is important to watch someone respond appropriately and learn from others in a conversation. However, others have attacked me and cussed me out. I have been told I should never have children and have had a ton of sarcastic comments thrown at me.
I have not risen to any of the bait, though it has been hard. I have not started any pointless arguments. But I have been hurt by some of the comments, even though I know that they were made from people that did not take the time to read my responses to other comments with more updated information. And now I can see how some celebrities just delete their accounts when it gets too bad. I am nowhere near that stage, but I understand it now.
Y’all, I am always open to learning new things. I am not always right. It is impossible for anyone to be right all the time. Things change often, as well, with new discoveries all the time. It is not ok to just attack people on the internet in comments and say uncalled for things and hide behind your keyboard. Go do research when you comment and give actual information instead of name-calling like a child and being sarcastic. There are people on the other side of that post. I am on the other side of that post. I am a real person with feelings. I am a nice person and I do appreciate education. Please think before you comment and post.
